  • Day 2 – Fly to Cuzco c

    Fly to Cuzco and transfer to the Costa del Sol Cuzco. Meet Carlos Seminario; he’s an expert on the region’s history and very knowledgeable about ancient ceremonies and traditional Peruvian healing techniques. After time to rest and acclimate to the altitude, join Carlos for a city tour featuring the architectural treasures of the main plaza and Cathedral, San Pedro Market and the Temple of the Sun. Meals B

  • Day 3 – Descend into the Sacred Valley

    Visit the terraced salt mines of Maras, worked by the same families for generations, and then gaze upon the agricultural terraces of Moray, one of Peru’s most enigmatic Inca sites. Visit the amazing fortress at Ollantaytambo, stroll in this ancient town and visit the home of an Andean family. Enjoy a tranquil night in the Sacred Valley at the Sonesta Posada del Inca. Meals B,L

  • Day 4 – By rail to Machu Picchu c

    Journey by rail through the scenic Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu and tour this ancient site with Mr. Seminario. A traditional ceremony offers thanks to the Maker, Mountain and Mother Nature. Overnight at the Sumaq Hotel. Meals B,L,D

  • Day 5 – Morning visit to Machu Picchu and back to Cuzco

    Witness the sun’s first light upon the ruins as you explore at your own pace. With morning dew, paths and stones can be slippery, requiring caution. Ride the train back to Cuzco and transfer to the Costa del Sol Picoaga Hotel. Meals B,L

  • Day 6 – Out and about in Cuzco

    Join Carlos this afternoon to explore Sacsayhuaman and visit Almudena Cemetery.  As part of your Cuzco discoveries, we include a visit a local center that provides shelter, care and schooling to young children. Meals B

  • Day 7 – Into the Amazon!

    Fly to Puerto Maldonado and journey up the Tambopata River to the wonderful Posada Amazonas Lodge, deep in the jungle. An ethno-botanical forest tour with your Ese’eja guide illuminates medicinal uses of these jungle plants. Meals B,L,D

  • Day 8 – Deep into the Rainforest at Posada Amazonas

    Cruise across an oxbow lake and explore high in the forest canopy. Visit a clay lick to see colorful tropical birds and join your forest guide to find the giant Ceiba tree. Set out on a night safari after dinner. Meals B,L,D

  • Day 9 – Back to Lima c

    Return to Lima and transfer to the Casa Andina Select Hotel. Meals B

  • Day 10 – Adios, Lima

    If your flight departs in the late afternoon or evening, enjoy a city tour including the highly-regarded Larco Herrera Museum. Meals B
