Welcome to Quito

You’ll be warmly greeted upon arrival and escorted by private car to the deluxe Swissotel.

Into the Amazon!

You’ll be escorted to the airport this morning for your included flight over the magnificent peaks of the Andes range! Upon arrival in the town of Coca, transfer to the banks of the pristine Napo River for a 2-hour boat journey. Enjoy a box lunch en route and keep your eyes sharp for possible sightings of herons, kingfishers and other native birds. The final leg of your journey is in a traditional dugout canoe, travelling along a narrow creek that connects the Napo River with the lake where our lodge is located. Along the way, you’ll have a good chance to observe various species of monkeys as well as spectacular Amazon birds like the toucan, parrot and macaw. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the exceptional Napo Wildlife Center Lodge, built in partnership with the indigenous Kichwa community in Yasuni National Park, the largest tract of tropical rainforest in Ecuador! Enjoy a refreshing welcome drink as you take in the spectacular views of Lake Añangu and then settle in to your generously appointed cabana. After dinner this evening, you can join the Lodge’s expert native guides for a thrilling Night Safari around the lake, a terrific opportunity to espy nocturnal creatures like the elusive cayman.  Meals B,L,D

Wildlife and communities of the Amazon

Arise early this morning for an invigorating 1-hour hike through the rainforest. Your destination is a clay lick that often attracts more than 10 species of colorful parrots, parakeets and macaws. Continue your hike along the forested trails to visit a local Kichwa community. Spending time with a resident family here offers a fascinating look into their daily life and traditions. The return hike takes you through a terra firma forest and along a swift flowing creek. A box lunch will be provided during today’s excursion which gets you back to the Lodge in late afternoon.  Meals B,L,D

Another day in the Amazon

Continue your exploration of the region’s pristine rainforests and the traditions of the Kichwa Indians. Hiking along the Napo River, you’ll have a chance to spot various Amazon species like the Pygmy marmoset as your native guide explains the medicinal uses of various plants that grow along the forest trails. Learn how the pioneering Napo Wildlife Center Lodge has helped the local Kichwa community to develop and progress, especially in areas like education and health, while also allowing them to maintain their timeless cultural traditions. Before returning to your cabana in the late afternoon, you’ll also hike to the Añangu Lagoon.  Meals B,L,D

Back to Quito

After breakfast, set out on the return journey to Coca - traveling from the Lodge in traditional and motorized canoes along the lake, creek and Napo River. Complete your journey with a short drive from the river pier to the airport for your included flight back to Quito. Our tour services end here at the airport for your onward journey. Meals B
